Migration to new RAID-10 Completed - New Intrepid is LIVE!

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

The migration has been completed!

As of about 6:15pm (EST) your website is now on a new server with RAID-10. You should notice a faster, more responsive website.

If you are missing a file or email, you can login to the old server and download it. The old server will be kept online through April 10th (it will be recycled on April 11th, 2008).

Old Server FTP IP: 207.45.186.82

Old Server cPanel login: https://207.45.186.82:2083

Old Server WebMail Login: https://207.45.186.82:2096

Good News…

All the files have been transferring to the new server. The new server will go LIVE at 6:00 PM EST. Downtime should be very minimal (less then 15 minutes). The old server will go offline, the databases will be updated on the new server, and then the new server will go LIVE. So, your databases will be up to date. If you uploaded any files today, you may have to re-upload them. And, if you got any email today, you may have to log into the old server to get what you need. Don’t worry… the old server will be brough back online with a different IP address, so — if needed — you can login to the old server and get whatever you need.

You’re going to love the NEW performance of your website tonight. I cannot wait for you to experience it.

There’s a chance the file transfer will complete tomorrow. If it does, we will do the migration tomorrow night at 1:00 AM (EST). If not, it should definitely be done by Saturday, so you are either looking at Friday or Saturday night. I’ll let you know as soon as the transfer is complete.

Intrepid files are still being moved

There really is no status change…

All the files are still copying, and it looks like this will take several more days, running 24/7.

I’ll update this blog when the file copy gets close to completion. And then I’ll update this blog frequently during the migration.

Intrepid RAID Migration

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Your server, intrepid.acenet-inc.net (’Intrepid’), will be swapped out with a new server. The new server will be using RAID-1O instead of RAID-6. You can look forward to a much faster website… two enterprise web hosting servers have already went through this and the feedback has been breathtaking. Server performance metrics are just as impressive, too. This isn’t hype — you can expect your website to be a lot faster in 2-3 days.

Right now all the data on your server is being copied to the new server. Be warned: service could be a little sluggish during this massive file migration. But… This short term grief will provide long term relief (I stole that slogan from a highway contruction sign). Due to the amount of data on this server the file migration could take a couple of days.

Stay Tuned… this blog will be updated frequently (at least daily).
