Nova RAID Migration
Your server, nova.acenet-inc.net (’Nova’), will be swapped out with a new server. The new server will be using RAID-1O instead of RAID-6. You can look forward to a much faster website… two enterprise web hosting servers have already went through this and the feedback has been breathtaking. Server performance metrics are just as impressive. This isn’t hype — you can expect your website to be faster very soon.
Right now all the data on your server is being copied to the new server. Be warned: service could be a little sluggish during this massive file migration. But… This short term grief will provide long term relief (I stole that sloganĀ from a highway contruction sign). Due to the amount of data on this server the file migration could take a couple of days.
Stay Tuned… this blog will be updated frequently

We will keep you updated, but it is really impossible to predict exactly when the file transfer will complete. I would guess 2-3 days.

My only question is as it’s copying over am I going to lose data because I have a forum and if you are copying newer data then what’s been copied could come through.
Also, is it happening right now because if it happens to accidently take down my server I’d like to be able to warn my users.

Cool, I’ll be looking forward to testing the speeds of the new servers

Morrigan,
The databases will be copied over after the old server has been shutdown and right before the new server goes live, so they will be up-to-date.
If you upload any files between now and the new server going live you will need to re-upload them when the new server goes live. However, the old server will remain online for several days, so you will be able to get anything missing.
More information will be posted once the file transfer gets closer to completion.

Thank you for the info.

My concern is very much the same as that of others. Primarily, how long will it take? I have a devotional website and families read this just before leaving for work, school, this could discourage them from logging on. Is there any words of hope I can give them?

Total downtime will be less than 30 minutes and I’ll provide as much advanced notice as possible. Stay Tuned.

this is getting pathetic..
“this blog will be updated frequently” - yet, not a single update.
almost 48 hours from initial post

Just curious, have we entered the downtime for the database move?

Come on guys how much longer? My site is timing out ALL the time with these files being copied over. I don’t think I have ever received this few orders on my site, I have had 1 order this week. You commit to uptime but this equates to DOWN time No?

Ok it was worth the sluggish sites and all that, super fast and a massive difference. Well done and thanks guys.
