Intrepid RAID Migration
Your server, intrepid.acenet-inc.net (’Intrepid’), will be swapped out with a new server. The new server will be using RAID-1O instead of RAID-6. You can look forward to a much faster website… two enterprise web hosting servers have already went through this and the feedback has been breathtaking. Server performance metrics are just as impressive, too. This isn’t hype — you can expect your website to be a lot faster in 2-3 days.
Right now all the data on your server is being copied to the new server. Be warned: service could be a little sluggish during this massive file migration. But… This short term grief will provide long term relief (I stole that slogan from a highway contruction sign). Due to the amount of data on this server the file migration could take a couple of days.
Stay Tuned… this blog will be updated frequently (at least daily).

I am worried about the site englishtorahtapes.com being down.
Do you know when that is scheduled to be moved?
How long it will take?
If the move can be avoided (the service seems fast enough as it is)?
I update englishtorahtapes.com nearly every day - sometimes twice a day and need to know this schedule.

Larry Neuton,
I really cannot predict with much accuracy how low the file transfer will take to complete, but I will update this blog with progress reports. Right now I would say we are 2-3 days away.
The databases will be copied over last, right after the old server is shutdown, so they will be up-to-date the instant the new server goes live. If you upload any files between now and the new server going live you may have to re-upload them. I’ll configure the old server with a different IP address, so you will be able to access the old server to get whatever is missing (if needed… when the new server goes live).
We’ve already done this with two other servers and things went very smooth. Total downtime will be under 30 minutes.

Dr Kamal Louis Younes,
I’m glad to hear you are enjoying Acenet’s service and support staff. You can look forward to improved service by the end of the week. You’ll notice a difference. The feedback on other servers that have already gone through this upgrade has been exciting. I know you’ll like it, and agree it was worth it.

Here, in the mountains of Italy, it snowed all Easter Morning. I saw your eMail concerning the new upgrades in the servers… and my beliefs that ‘Everyday is Christmas’ were confirmed.
Thanks to All of You there at Acenet.
